Paul Peabody – MTL 2015 Chairman

Vice President and CIO, Bronson Healthcare Group

Paul Peabody is Vice President and Chief Information Officer for the Bronson Healthcare Group.  In that role, he is responsible for Information Technology strategy and operations.  Most recently he was CIO for Palomar Health System.   Mr. Peabody is a founding member of the Detroit Chapter of Society for Information Management (SIM), where he has been a member since 1987.  He has been an Advisory Board member for Midwest Technology Leaders for over 5 years and is serving as this year’s symposium chairman.

Dr. Clinton O. Longenecker is an award-winning educator, one of America’s leaders in the area of rapid performance improvement and the Stranahan Professor of Leadership and Organizational Excellence in UT’s College of Business and Innovation. Longenecker is an active management consultant, educator and executive coach whose clients include a wide variety of Fortune 500 firms and entrepreneurial organizations, including Harley-Davidson, ConAgra Foods, Inc., SSOE Group, ProMedica, Whirlpool, Eaton, Cooper Tire & Rubber Company, Dana Holding Corporation, Howard Hughes Medical Institute and Owens-Illinois, Inc. Major General Gregory Vadnais

Adjutant General, Michigan National Guard

Major General Gregory J. Vadnais is The Adjutant General, Michigan. He also serves as the Director of Military and Veterans Affairs for Michigan. General Vadnais commands and directs the Michigan Army and Air National Guard, with a total of 159 units. General Vadnais’ career began in 1970 as an enlisted soldier in the 107th Maintenance Battalion, Michigan Army National Guard. He entered the Michigan Military Academy Officer Candidate School and was commissioned in 1973 as a second lieutenant. Some of General Vadnais’ other notable assignments include Commander, 1-119th Field Artillery Battalion; Commander, 1-182 Field Artillery Battalion; Commander, 46th Brigade, 38th Infantry Division (Mechanized); Assistant Division Commander – Maneuver, 38th Infantry Division, and Commander, 38th Infantry Division (Mechanized). During General Vadnais’ tenure as Commander, 38th Infantry Division (Mechanized), over 9,000 soldiers were mobilized and deployed to 17 different countries including Iraq, Afghanistan, Bosnia, Kosovo, Egypt and to numerous other security missions in the United States and abroad. He was also Commander, Joint Task Force-Cyclone in response to Hurricane Katrina providing command and control of the over 14,000 Soldiers and Airmen deployed in Mississippi.

Ajay Kapoor is a corporate innovator and changemaker at Procter & Gamble, leading reinventing brand specific digital strategies, driving forward Big Data capabilities, and broadly focused on being an interpreneur within the larger organization. Prior to joining P&G, he was a serial entrepreneur, cofounding three companies across a variety of verticals, from cleantech, ecommerce, and biotech. He is motivated by big picture impact and social betterment for the globe, with all three of his startups embodying that social mission.

He is an advisor and mentor to a variety of startups, a Trustee to the Awesome Foundation, functions on the Executive Team of Startup Leadership Program, and co-founded GrowDetroit, a non-profit focused on reimagining the economic and social ecosystem of Detroit and broader middle America. He was recently named as a World Economic Forum Global Shaper. ​​

Dave Shuman is a Big Data evangelist and Retail/Manufacturing specialist at Cloudera, the leading Big Data vendor. He advises customers globally as they introduce Big Data solutions and adopt enterprise-wide Big Data delivery capabilities. Prior to joining Cloudera, Dave built and ran Vision Chain, an innovative data warehousing & insights start-up serving as Chief Operations Officer, VP of Field, and VP of Product over his 11 year tenure.

Previously Dave developed ecommerce applications and business processes at the dawn of the ecommerce era with enews.com (a Barnes and Noble company) managing software development, operations and retail analytics. Dave has an extensive background in the Hadoop ecosystem, business intelligence applications, database architecture, logical and physical database design and data warehousing.

He holds an M.B.A. with a concentration in Information Systems from Temple University and a B.A. from Earlham College.

Sesh Tirumala is a Vice President within Global Infrastructure Services IT at Cisco Systems.  Sesh oversees Engineering, Cloud & Software automation IT capabilities.  The portfolio consists of Product Development Services, Product Lifecycle Management, Engineering & IT Cloud Services, Service assurance and management & Acquisitions integration. Sesh’s focus is delivering capabilities and solutions for IT, Engineering & Services. The next big wave focuses on driving continuous delivery to modernize the Software engineering experience and deliver with speed.

Sesh joined Cisco in 1998 and spent his first 7 years helping shape and enable many of the key Supply Chain IT capabilities. In late 2005, he joined Sales IT and led many of the Sales CRM capabilities for 4 years including critical operational and systemic capabilities for Cisco to drive growth in the Data center business.  In 2009, Sesh took the leadership position leading business operations and IT for the Commerce transformation initiative. He successfully deployed the next generation platform, globally supporting annual revenue of $50B.  In 2013, Sesh lead Unified Communication (UC), Video Services and Enterprise Social. The portfolio encompassed the overall video strategy and all associated technologies such as UC, Web & Video Conferencing, Video Sharing and Streaming, Enterprise Social, and Intranet Management.. Brent Stahlheber

Brent R. Stahlheber is the Sr. Vice President and Chief Brand Officer of The Auto Club Group. Brent leads the brand marketing, advertising, travel and consumer focused organizations headquartered in Dearborn Michigan. He was Auto Club Group’s Chief Information Officer for over 8 years. Brent also has a strong background in the Financial Services/Insurance industry where he had a variety of assignments specializing in interfacing with the business team—understanding business issues and helping translate to technological solutions. Brent came from Allstate Insurance Company as their Sr. Director of Product Technology and during this 19 year tenure he held management and director positions specializing in multi-channel Sales and Service, Product development, Strategy, Claim Technology and Infrastructure Services. Brent has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science and Management from Eastern Illinois University and attended the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY for the Leadership in Action Management program. He also helps organizations comply with the various information security and privacy regulations. Most recently, Raj has focused on advising clients on various cybersecurity for emerging technologies such as cloud computing, mobile applications, and collaboration tools like Microsoft SharePoint. He is frequently quoted in national and regional periodicals as an expert on technology and cybersecurity topics. Raj is also a contributing blogger for Crain’s Detroit on Cybersecurity. Doug Copley

IT Director and CISO, Beaumont Health

Doug Copley is an IT Director and Chief Information Security Officer for Beaumont Health. Prior to joining Beaumont in 2012, he was a global Information Security Manager and Chief Privacy Officer at Ally Financial. Doug has more than 20 years of experience in IT, security and privacy at large, complex organizations across the banking, manufacturing and professional services industries, including positions with Accenture, Ford Motor Company and Ally Financial. Doug is also a founder and past Chairman of the Michigan Healthcare Cybersecurity Council. He is very active in statewide and national healthcare cybersecurity and critical information protection initiatives, frequently speaks at industry events and has testified on cybersecurity to State of Michigan legislators. Doug holds CISM, CISSP, CISA, CIPP and CIPT certifications and holds degrees from both Albion College and Michigan State University.​

Jamal Farhat is the Vice President and Chief Information Officer at BorgWarner responsible for the strategy and execution of all aspect of the global information technology department for the company. Mr. Farhat joined BorgWarner in August 2004 and his been its CIO since then. Mr. Farhat has over 30 years experience in the Information Technology industry. Prior to BorgWarner, Mr. Farhat was the CIO and Executive Director of Supply Chain Management at LDM Technologies, a tier one automotive supplier. His background includes senior IT management positions in the automotive industry including OEMs such as General Motors, and many medium to large manufacturing and engineering companies. His experience includes eleven years of information technology consulting and outsourcing management at EDS and Perot Systems.

He is currently serving as the Chief Technology Officer for the State of Michigan, responsible for IT Strategy, Vendor Management and Innovation, and Infrastructure & Operations. Prior to joining the State, he was most recently employed with DTE Energy where he focused on innovation and emerging technologies as well as taking a lead role in the
Department of Energy research grants conducting an analysis of Smart Grid communication protocols.

Mr. Hindelang is a commercial litigator with substantial experience in the securities, corporate governance and corporate investigations arenas and in high-stakes cases where significant monetary amounts or prominent reputations have been implicated. He also advises business entities on data security issues, including responding to data breach incidents, and leads privacy litigation matters. Mr. Hindelang counsels on information management issues, including e-discovery planning and records retention, in both litigation and non-litigation settings.
